Taking on the Steens Mountains with the T.K.4.7.

We took the T.K.4.7. out for a weekend adventure from Overkill Campers in Bend, Oregon to Burns, Oregon for the Giant Loop 9th Annual Ride. After enjoying a night at Crystal Crane Hot Springs and talking to the adventure bike riders, we headed out to do a loop of the Steens Mountains.
We started heading south through some less-traveled roads until we found our first stretch of dirt. Excited to get off the pavement, Dave (VentureThe395) and I (JacobFeuerman) took a quick pit stop to let the dogs out for a break and then headed out to find the first trail. After a few miles, we found a very rocky and narrow trail that climbed sharply. Of course, for us, this meant we had to go explore it. We drove the trail and the T.K.4.7. climbed over the rocks with ease. When we got to the top we enjoyed a nice view of the valley.
We then proceeded back to the main dirt road and ventured our way along the path. We took many stops along the way up to enjoy the viewpoints. We found ourselves at a mountain lake for lunch. As per our usual, we ate grilled cheese on the Jetboil stove for our trail lunch.
Then, we ventured to the top of the dirt road where we got to drive the rim overlooking the Alvord Desert and the highest road in Oregon. We descended down the sharper turns until we got back to the pavement. The scenery in the Steens Mountains was some of the most spectacular I’ve seen and highly recommend it to everyone!
